Hi. Any suggestions as to where I can find a VERY cheap world coin price book? I need a very broad one....not a year specific or country specific. IE: something like WORld Price Guide (from past 300 years or so) This is NOT what I'm looking for - Price Guide for German Coins from 1900-1943. Thanks ! Appreciate ANY help. I just inherited like approx 100 lbs of misc world coins. And dont have ANY idea to value at all!

NGC offers a free online price catalog. However, it is not as fast to use as a physical catalog is.

http://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/

Many libraries stock recent world coin price guides. The price of getting a library card will probably be significantly less than the price of a new catalog (they usually go for almost $100).

And, of course, CCF is available for your use - take good pictures and post them in our Identification forum!

Sounds like you have a fun job, lots of learning ahead!! Here are a few links to some great deals on used/new books: the first I recommend it covers most World coins from 1901 to about 2012, and for 12 dollars or so is a great buy, about 1,140 pages: (long link !)

http://product.half.ebay.com/Collec...000029899268

the next link below is also a long link, but is for a 2,300 page book and it is a bit more comprehensive and a steal at about $10.00, good to about 2006.

Now, if you have trouble finding these sites simply do a search at http://www.bookfinder.com

enter for your search terms - "World Coins", choose one of the results by Krause, simple, and cheap!! BookFinder.com is gigantic and lists millions and millions of books, used and new. Books on all subjects. Oh and welcome, - PS you might consider joining the ANA also, it can be a helpful assist.

I have six volumes of KM World Coins, including the specialist World Gold Coins and World Crowns and Thalers. Together they cover the last 400 years.
Also have Coincraft English and U.K. Coins, 1066 to date, also published in association with KM Publications. (Seven telephone sized books in all).

They are not the most recent editions, but I supplement them with occasional referece to the NGC site World Coin Values. Current prices for all milled and modern English and British coins can be found on Tony Clayton's website.

U.S. Coin Digest (another KM publication), plus on line price reference for American coins OK for my needs.

For current prices of coins of more than 400 years old, my 'go to' site is VCOINS. Approx. more than $30 million worth of ancient coins for sale at any one time, from most of the important dealers across the World.

That covers just about all of current coin pricing with good picture reference for all of them, for the whole of numismatics, over the last 2,500 years. !

For picture reference only, I find Google Images very useful, but you have to have some idea of what you are looking for, and be reasonably intuitive in your search.
