First off, Bob, allow me to express my appreciation for your article in the current issue of the U.S. Mexican Numismatic Assn. journal, which lays out very clearly the overall history of the counterfeiting of the portrait type 8 reales coins.
What I am interested in is whether your Class 1 through 4 categories will also hold true for the succeeding "Cap & Rays" type (with obvious alterations to the dating and time spans for each). Your 1830 "watershed" date occurs awfully early in this later series.
