Hello,

Just purchased these two lots of coins for about $20 total. Can anyone help me identify some of these coins more accurately? Sorry for the bad photos, they are all the sellers, and for the amount of them.

I am especially interested in finding out what the Chinese cash coins are (the square holed ones) and the silver looking coin in the bottom right corner of the last two photos which has a hole punched in the top near the rim.

There are a few coins I have already learned the dates of. For instance, the Canadian 10 cent piece in the last two photos is 1858 and seemingly good shape, also the shilling in the first 9 photos is 1890. But, for the most part, I am in the dark as to the dates, countries and types of most of these coins.

Here they are:

Again, sorry if this is too daunting of a task.

Thank you

I think you'll get much more success if you split these up. Too many in one place means lower likelihood of people responding. The one with the small hole seems to be maybe from the Ottoman Empire, but without close-up pics I can't really tell.

Tom, you can limit the size for us to review and split it up into seperate post. You have a 24 hour time frame.
This would help other viewers to chirp in.

What a steal for $20!

When bidding on lots, you can assume that most of the coins in the lot are worthless junk, with maybe 5 valuable coins per 100. Here's what I am seeing in your lot:

Silver Canadian coins (everything silver-colored minus the nickels from before 1968)--George VI and Elizabeth II are pretty much worth melt, while George V and earlier carry a premium.

The Victoria silver-colored coins are most likely all silver, and her coins usually carry a premium.

That Japanese 50 sen coin is probably silver and could be quite valuable; can't find a match online.

The bottom "cash" coin is a Japanese Mon from the 1800s or so. Very common and worth a couple bucks. Top one I think is Chinese, but can't quite make out. Probably Qianlong; his coins are crazy common and very cheap.

You can find the country in Google by typing the legend on the coin exactly as it appears. I see mexico, peru, philippines, UK, hong kong, iceland, taiwan, australia, Germany, etc. Most of those are worth face value, or have been demonetized. The coin with the building and "10" is a Japanese 10 yen coin. Those still circulate and are the rough equivalent of a dime.

Thank you all for the feedback! Looks like I will have to break these lots up and post those I really cannot find information about back up when these coins all arrive.

Thanks dohcollector! Does anyone know of something which I can make this photo high resolution? There is a Swiss 1 Franc in there that could be very valuable.

Looks like a couple of KGV Aussie florins, and a shilling.
