I see some localized MD on the top of the T and Y in LIBERTY, but an interesting notch on the upper right of the Y. Is it anything? Thanks.

There are 16 DDO on Coppercoins most of which have some light spread in Liberty. I don't see anything like your coin though. Perhaps you have a very late die stage. The upper arm of the Y sure looks like it is doubled.

I keep trying to sign off for the night and finding these interesting posts. Rackster, it goes against the grain, but I don't see why you couldn't have a legit DD and MD too. I gotta go, ltr.

Yes, there are examples of doubled dies that show MD as well.
This has MD but that notch is interesting. Can you post more photos with the light source at about 7:00 O'clock so we can see the bottom left corners of the rest of LIBERTY?

I've checked this from one of the images that were first posted and came to this conclusion. If this were hub doubling, why would only one be affected? (Y) We see a lot of evidence of Machine Doubling on the tops of the devices., so I feel this is also affecting the east edge of the "Y".

If it were hub doubling we might see move evidence as in another DDO for this year:

Note LIBERTY.

I would expect to see more of the same look on other devices in this area. But on Rackster's coin, it just shows it on one device. So I'm thinking MD.

Hi guys - it is a bit of a mind twister. I was thinking the same thing as Coop; why not the other devices? It seemed too localized to be DD, but there are some weird DD examples that seem to defy logic. Had me wondering if this was just another logic defying example.

Coop - I initially thought that the contact mark was part of the MD since it offset to an extent with the split. But the more I looked at it, I felt it only added to the confusion (looks like a knit-line of sorts). Thanks for chiming in on this.

Looks like one more of those odd specimens to set aside as a reference coin. I appreciate everyone's input! Kev
