Never would I have thought ! The only reason I think it wasn't snagged up earlier was because it was all tarnished black and couldn't tell if it was silver at first. I was unloading my boat and my change fell out and I heard that "silver sound" thought no way. Went inside, some warm water and soap reviled the 1964 date! So stoked actually. You guys that crh for silver must feel like winning the lottery!!

Ay, she's a crusty old gal! Congrats on a nice find of silver "in the wild"!

Yes its a crusty one alright, but its journey is over from being in the wild. It now resides in a 2x2 with information and date on it! Pretty cool stuff!

Nice find . don't be afraid to soak it in acetone then a couple of dips in silver dip. Hey, it's already in melt state, so there's nothing to lose.

Nice find. Quote: Nice find . don't be afraid to soak it in acetone then a couple of dips in silver dip. Hey, it's already in melt state, so there's nothing to lose. The acetone dip is a good idea but, silver dip really, T-BOP ?

Waste of time and materials, either way. Just put it aside for the next great silver boom!

I used to be a night manager at a Sonic fast food restaurant. We had a dozen "changers" that were those metal hip holster change dispensers so that the server car hops could make change for cash transactions. All I would have to do is hold those up and check the reeding of all the coins to see if there was silver in there.
It wasn't until I left that job did I appreciate how much silver I actually pulled out of them. I put all my finds in 2X2's and marked them as "found in circulation". I never find silver anymore but out of sonic I've pulled roughly a dozen quarters, 20 silver dimes including 2 mercury and one barber, 3 silver nickels and a clad buffalo and liberty head.

I guess they are still some out there to be found. The picture I posted is after a silver dip and was rather surprised at how tarnished it still looks. Any who this one will never leave my stash.

bpoc1 , I was suggesting to OP use acetone for the dirt and crude. then use silver dip for all that black tarnish. end results, he'll have a nicer looking coin to have in his possession ,even if it is a melter.
