Found this in a bargain bin, not many foreign fans around these parts. Really curious on what it is, it has the look of age, does appear to be cast. Its larger than a Morgan dollar.
Can get the size tomorrow if needed.
I cannot figure out what is on the reverse, the obverse seems to be legible, to some one who knows the characters.

Sorry about the poor quality, hopefully this is enough to get an idea.

I have seen similar items before--these are not coins, but rather charms or similar. They were put on display to attract fortune or luck, or to ward off evil spirits.

Pretty sure the reverse is a dragon. The obverse I can't translate immediately, but I am pretty sure it has the "tong bao" characters (3 and 9 o'clock), which would mean it was used to attract fortune.

I know of the existance of 'palace' coins. This was money used by the people who lived and worked in the palace of the emperor. Some of these coins can be as large as 25cm (or 10inch)
Buth if this is one? I don't know. This is propably a charm.
