Why not just try Acetone first. Should be able to buy that anywhere

Verdigris is insoluble in acetone, it would be futile.

Keep in mind, the more things you "try" on a coin, the more you push your luck in changing the patina. I recommend jumping directly to VC to address the verdigris. If you want to start with something outside that, I recommend xylene to remove any oils or organics, the go to VC.

You can order VC using the link in my sig. Wizard ships anywhere I believe. You can also use ebay and global shipping program. However, shipping outside the US is expensive.

Thank you BadThad. If I cannot find any collector or retailer in Calgary that could sell me some, I just might have to order from the U.S.

So I am switching back to my original question about acetone. Is this silver dollar a candidate for it?

I don't think using acetone on that coin will improve it in any way but I also don't think it would hurt it either. Acetone will have no affect on the toning if that question is on your mind.
