This one has me stumped. I'm having a hard time making out the reverse legend it almost looks in the style of a Byzantine coin. But I've never seen one like that with a cat/lion on the obverse. Can you make out any of the reverse legend? The cat reminds me of the Ethiopian Lion.

I don't think those are numbers.

I starting to wonder is this is a coin, could it be a seal. Is the metal bronze or lead?

In that case its most likely a Byzantine seal of some type.

I don't think the obverse figure is a cat. It looks more like a dog to me. I pushed the contrast around the figure so it could stand out. I see a dog with his head up baying. I don't think it is ancient, but maybe the token/medallion had something to do with hunting. Or an old dog-ID tag, maybe?

That may be the case, but I'm seeing what looks like a cat of some type, maybe a she lion. The reverse legend font IMO looks like what would be found on coins of the Byzantine period. It may not be ancient in the true sense of the word but again IMO it's not a modern piece either. Hopefully others will weigh in on this. Maybe someone can make out the legend better than I can.

Here is a contrast heightened version of the reverse which didn't help me make much sense out of it, but maybe someone else can see more clearly.

Looks like a cat to me, just based on the long tail and shape of back legs.
