In my opinion Vcoins is probably the best source for ancient coins of all types. Here is a link to the dealers there. http://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/anc...Default.aspx

vcoins.com

This is a conglomeration of many many coin dealers and has some cool search functions allowing you to see all coins of a given type in price order. You can tag different coins into a wish list and most importantly you can trust that the items are what they are described to be since vcoins would not allow rogue traders and would take action against them.

I think there are occasional bargains there but you are less likely to get a bargain on vcoins to ebay, but you are also less likely to get stung. They tend to offer good quality stuff and know what they have.

I try to buy from the dealers in Europe since there can be no issues with import duty etc, and have had particularly good dealings with Gitbud and Naumann.

MA-shops is the same principle. A lot of sellers in one site.
Be sure to read the reviews of a seller BEFORE any purchase.

Thank you ! I had a look....nice! One of the things I've noticed is the difference in peoples gradings!
Especially at EF level!
One thing I'm a bit confused about is the different colours of the coins from dark patina...verdigris...brown...sandy with dark highlights!!?
Do these effect the value of the coins or is it purely a personnal preference?

I put on the web a list of sites to buy from:

If you know of other fixed-priced sites, even minor ones, let us know and I will consider adding them to the list.

I've used a coins supplier from Madrid on the ebay bolsa_numismatica_online He's got a large variety of world coins all at fixed price. 100% straight.
In my opinion his grading is spot on and his service is very professional. You wont get any bargains but you get what you pay for!
Have a look and let me know what you think!
