The Morgan dollars have quite a following for bag toned coins and I am quite sure that Abe will never reach that status. These are from a mint sewn bag I opened years ago and stuck aside. They are a selection from about two rolls of similar coins I recently pulled from the bag , some nice , others not so much.

The one in the third picture is amazing. I can only imagine what it looks like in person as cameras never catch the "rainbow" as good as they look in hand. With a surplus of them are you going to get rid of any of them?

Was the mint bag all cotton, or what? How many years did it take for them to do that?

You probably should go through it all and pull out the nice ones for indivdual preservation.
Rest in Peace

Of the ones posted, I like the fourth one the best. I don't quite like the "oil spill" look.

T-BOP I totally understand. The thing I like about them is the intense colors right beside a red part of the coin. My personal toner tastes are like my discovery coin for 1934P-1DR-004 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=mds .

Here are pics of the bag and the mostly nicer coins in it. I picked up three of these bags years ago and two of them had DDO-002's in them. This the third bag, after going through a few hundred coins I realized the bag did not have the DDO in it so I never looked at the rest of the bag. That was years ago so these coins have been in the bag since 1959.

I bet the bag is worth more than the face value of the pennies now, but look at all those shiny 1st issue Lincoln Memorials

Uh oh, BadThad has some competition. I'm used to only him posting toned lincolns so good you'd think they're fake... That's a stunner Stone
