I have noticed if APMEX starts promotional special on gold coins; that's usually when gold spot peaks. Amazingly accurate for the past three years; if you want to back-test this sign. By the way, APMEX has been rolling out more and better specials recently; I am deeply worried.

Now APMEX controls the spot price of precious metals? Darn it! I only had Wall Street to worry about until now.

I've noticed that too with the mcm ebay ASE 24hr sales. Seems like the next day there's a dip. They know something!

Not necessarily controlling, APMEX seems to have a crystal ball on gold spot price. Even I fell into the trap twice last year; because the deal was too good to refuse. Just to find out, it wasn't a deal several days later. LOL

@Cascade, You're right. So I develop a strategy on this situation. Which is, stay put when specials rolled out; and wait patiently for any sudden drop, you know sometimes unexpected things do happen. If nothing happens, I am not buying. That's the rule

Today, one of my most reliable indicator lights up: APMEX 90% Junk Silver Special. Almost every time this happened, Silver took a deep dive for weeks to come. Signal reliability is as high as 100%; I have never seen it failed before.

It's going to be hard to find bargain for a while, as soon as price of silver drops, so do the premium rises, vice verse, price of silver goes up and premium drops a little so that it attract buyers with the basic same price.

Provident Metals are promoting gold & silver bullion specials at wholesale price; APMEX is advertizing hard, as well. Gold and Silver spot prices might reach a top within next week.

Another warning sign flashes: As of Tuesday Oct 6, Silver futures weekly report showed Commercial Traders increased their short position significantly, so that their short/long ratio reached a stunning 2:1. This type of ratio usually showed up whenever Silver spot price was at its midterm tops.
