In the beginning of my collecting I would keep the wheaties I found in circulation, now it has expanded to other types such as nickles, quarters, etc currently in circulation. Now since joining this forum I have learned that collecting coins and storing them was the way to go.

I knew little about albums and folders much less about Dansco.
With all my excitement in storing my collection I went and purchased a Dansco # 7113 not knowing the difference between #7113 and #8113. Then becoming more educated I've learned the Dansco's 8000 series were for the 'S' mints as well as the P and D. I've just received the 8113 today and in the process in transferring nickles into this album. Now looks like I am in search for 'S' mints.

In this album there are slots for 1970S Type I and Type II, what are these?
In addition 'the Westward Series'- there are 4 slots for 2004 (two P's and two D's) two 'S' for 2004- for a total of 6 slots for 2004
I know 2004 are of the Peace Medal and Keelboat but how did I place them in the correct slot? Should they be 2 (P-D) Keelboat and 2 (P-D)Peace Medal? Or one of each?

Thanks,
mila_

Mila,

I have the 7113 and for the four spots for the business strike Jeffersons this is how I have it

P - Keelboat
D - Keelboat
P - Peace Medal
D - Peace Medal

(So I guess you could say one of each).

As for the nickels is it 1970 or 1979 that has the type I & II? I know that 1979 has the filled S and clear S nickels, but not so sure about 1970...Maybe someone else will be along that knows.

Hope this helps.

I was assuming it was a typo. All denominations of my Dansco albums have holes for 1979-S Type I and Type II. The Lincoln album has two holes labeled Large Date and Small Date for 1970-S.

The Type I is the filled S.

Here is a quick link:

There are more hits on Google, but I think this is a good start.

I think all manufacturers now put slots for the 70S small and large dates to irritate everyone. Same with 1960 and 1982. I'd like to see an Album by someone for all normal coins. No double dies, no large and small dates, no missing mint marks, no proofs. Just an album for everyone.
