Hello.. I am placing this here with the hope it attracts some knowledgable eyes.
It is from Wurttemberg, Germany, dated '1846 13 Jvli 1871' and weighs 2.18 oz. Size is 50mm.
Does anyone know anything about it? Are there any online references? My searches have turned up nothing even close.
It is a fantastic piece but I do not collect medals. Thanks for any help. -msy

I found it on website of museum of Stuttgart(capital of Wurttemberg) - http://www.museum-digital.de/bawue/...=1&oges=1177 - it's a medal commemorating silver wedding anniversary of the king. It says there were made 25 in gold, 265 in silver and 408 in bronze. They were given to Russian royal family, house of Wurttemberg and those who participated in celebration. Needless to say it looks beautiful.

That is Charles I of Württemberg and his wife Olga

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charl...%BCrttemberg

They were married July 13, 1846. The couple celebrated their 25th anniversary in 1871.

Scroll all the way down and there's an example of your medal on this article http://www.coinsweekly.com/en/News/4?&id=2356

Engraver: Christian Schnitzspahn (Berlin)

Legends:

Obverse,

KARL KING OF WUERTTEMBURG * OLGA QUEEN OF WUERTTEMBURG GRAND DUCHESS OF RUSSIA

C. SCHNITZSPAHN F. = Christian Schnitzspahn Made (it)

Reverse,

13 JULY 1846-1871 (25th anniversary as mentioned above)

CHR. SCHNITZSPAHN FEC. (same meaning as obverse)

A nice medal and scarce even in bronze with less than 700 pieces struck in any metal.

Olga Nikolayevna was the 7th of 9 children of the oft-maligned Nicholas I Romanov, so this medal has appeal to both Russian and German collectors. Nicholas' wife Alexandra Fyodorovna (Charlotte of Prussia) was the 4th child of Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia.
