I have recently discovered this coin, which once belonged to my father, who died when I was a child. I believe that it has some relevance to my family history.

ANY information that anyone could offer about the images on this coin, or the coin itself, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! :)

First off

I have my doubts to this being a real coin. Of the bat it looks like a jewelry piece, but I as far from an expert as you could find on ancient coins. there are some very smart people here. I am sure thery will be along to id this for you.

Is that the parrot from the comic strip 'Monty'?

Not my specialty area, a replica of what?

Welcome to you, Matt. Many of us here are far from experts, I look forward to learning from the answers to your post.

The type it references is a Roman Republican anonymous issue from 211 - 208 BC, like these:

It is, in all likelihood, a modern fake.

Thank you all so very much for your kind welcome and very helpful information.

Bob L, those links are EXACTLY what I was hoping someone could point me towards! thank you!

I too am sure that my coin is a fake, but it's sentimental value is through the roof! Lol
But now I know what it is a replica of, and that in itself helps me along my path to enlightenment :)

Thank you all again!

I have several albums of coins that I collected as a kid, some really cool stuff, this seems like a great community I might have to share some of them here to get your thoughts :)
