This is a coin I dug up while metal detecting, hence the dark patina. Is this an error coin, and if so, what kind of error? I thought it might be a late stage capped die strike...except that both sides are mushy...?

It looks like a " Dryer Coin" to me. You can tell by the way the edges are starting to roll over and the details are all battered down.
