Try to find a coin show in your area. I see those 16D's all the time at shows around me.

Thank you for all of your replies, it has been greatly appreciated. I will probably pass on this coin, mostly because I have seen many G4 that have appealed to me more from a visual standpoint. It is good to know that my paranoia is good to have, but was overly sensitive in this particular case. I will continue to watch it to the end, just in case I can get it for a super deal. Thanks again!

Why does it have to be in PCGS slab?

Things to notice:

- Username is randomly generated.

- 0 feedback

- Joined 3 weeks ago

- Has expensive coins for sale to begin with

- No returns

Most likely stolen images. No returns is what is the most concerning.

Good point. The photography is different on seller's three items.

Since you're in Mobile, go check out "Judge" at Loop Coin on Government St. Not a better person around to find what you need. I buy BU Morgan rolls from him on a weekly to monthly basis and have never been disappointed.

Well, it went for $684 (CoinFrog had closest guess). Anyone here take a dabble?

Is has a very strong date for a coin in just Good Condition. I see Red Book 2015 for the Mercury dime in Good Condition is $1000. What is majority opinion of true value of this coin? If you could get this coin for $650 and it is in good condition that would be well below retail considering what retail is in October 2015.

I bought a 16-D in a PCGS holder in G-4 condition at a local coin show for $700. I thought it had much better eye appeal than this one, and felt it could have gone G-6 or G-8. My advice would be to find one that appeals to you first, then make sure you are comfortable with the price.

This dime very much reminds me of one I bought a few years ago. It was certified and graded AG-3 by ANACS in an older holder. I also then owned a PCGS slabbed 16-D, graded AG-3 in a PCGS holder that had more reverse wear into the letters. I agreed with the PCGS graded coin but thought that ANACS should take another look. So, I took both coins to the FUN show and sat down with ANACS' chief grader. He agreed that the ANACS dime was stronger. So, I asked if a resubmission might warrant a G-4 grade. His reply was that the better dime was worth a grade of AG-3.9 ... thus, no change.
