Putting this up for your collective assessment since there's actually a decent photo of it.

I guess I shoud've said that I'm well awate of the near certainty of it's being a fake (why the topic title's in quotation marks). But it's good for a change to be able to actually see reasonably clearly what this junk is currently looking like.

It is a interesting write up

"USA Statue of Liberty 1878 Trade dollar"

"some far away country maybe need 30-40 days"

Sad to think how many people around the world will
buy this junk

Once somebody in the U.S. buys it, next time it is on ebay it will be with a U.S. address and therefore not so suspicious. It's a shame.

I am going to be looking at Trade dollars at the next coins show, which is something I have never done before (I have noticed them, just not really every looked at them). I am beginning to wonder what percentage of them will be suspicious.

What the low quality junk is looking like. Their better quality junk is more convincing, and their good quality junk can be scary.

If it is not in a slab, be highly suspicious. I would venture to say that fake raw Trade dollars outnumber real raw Trade dollars.

The ones I have seen in the past have been slabbed. It may very well be the first slab I get to crack open.
