Hello,

I found this in a huge wholesale lot of foriegn coins I bought recently. It appears to have the reverse design of an Irish Half Penny (and is the size of such a half penny), however the obverse does not seem like any issue of half penny I am aware of. It also looks like it was struck off center. Anyone have an idea what this might be?

Many thanks in advance,
-XoG

It looks like a blacksmith copy of an 1820 token attributed to Canada.

Looks like you found it! Are off center strikes common on these?

Very much so. I believe that the centered coins are the rarities.

This is an example of the regular token.
