Hey All, Looking for a valuation on my 1923 one half penny. Also if someone could tell me if this one half penny is authentic? Are there any places in brisbane that would authenticate this coin and would it be worth sending it to PSG Will get an Obverse side picture when I get home. About £400-500 (850-1000 AUD)? But the picture isn't the best.
What makes you think it's not authentic?

I know it's a heavily targeted coin. I'll get some better pictures when I'm home.

Yeah it looks fine to me, authenticity-wise, but maybe around 750 - 900 AUD, only because I've just now seen the edge knocks all over it.
Also, is that an actual chunk of the coin missing at 9 o'clock? It looks like you can see the background through the gap

It's just the way the picture is taken unfortunately. I'll get some better ones in the light.

Sorry Luke, I don't mean to detract from what is a really good purchase and a very hard date.
So all-in-all well done :)

That's not a problem! I just need to get better with pictures.

Hard to say for sure but looks genuine. Check for a very thin die crack along the bottom of the date.
Watch your top knot

Value would be anywhere from $700 - $1200 depending on how much interest there is on the day.Grade would be fine or VF20 - VF25

I would grade it as very good to mebbe just slightly better than fine at best. But the grading system I personally use relies with a heaviness on the pearls and diamond between the middle pearls. Yours(from what I can see) has barely 6 pearls, and a significantly totally not there, with extensive further wear around it, centre diamond. Now in my gradings, 6 pearls, some diamond and not much wear round it(and a good rest of coin of course)would take it to fine and better.
Some people's gradings dont use this system that heavily though. Each to their own Bro.
