That's nice. I collect notes out of circulation too. I wish I could afford some of the old obsoletes, but it's shiny disks or currency, and I pick shiny disks.

I have always loved $2. My favorites...

I figured this was the best place to ask the question? I like fancy serial numbers. As soon as I can I'll get a picture up if it's worth it. At one time serial numbers in sequance ie 1, 2 ,3, 4 etc were uncommon and a very collectable item. Are they still that way? If they are. I have a set of 4 $1.00 bills that are in number order I've had for about 5 years and not a Government Cut Sheet.

I have several 1,2,5, some10 and 20 bills in serial numberical order. Are there real value to these outside of face value?

Numerical order like this:

16789423
16789424
16789425
16789426

really do not add value in general. There are exeptions of course, obsolete notes, confederate, star notes, 12 fed banks, errors, that sort of thing.

can anyone describe exactly what makes the serial numbers fancy? I saw how this one was but how many sets does it have to have or would a # like 7474757677 or 3936383137 be fancy? thanks

Any number that appeals to you or grabs your attention can be a "fancy" number. Banknote numbers are effectively random, but the human mind is expert at spotting patterns in apparent randomness, especially if you're expecting and hoping to see them.

Of course, convincing others of the "specialness" of patterns you spot is a different matter. I would think a dealer would take some convincing to pay much of a premium for Metalman's note. If only the 3rd and 6th numbers were the same...

I have some fun with "wheresgeorge.com," so I usually check the seriel numbers. In all these years I found only one "radar" note, and one with several of the same numbers...I think 3's.

I'll keep looking though, and maybe find something neat one of these days.

the frequency of those notes are alot less than any old drab number an appeal to collectors so there is usualy a little higher premium on them. I love repeters, radar's, low numbers and fancy 51415 this an example of a radar I know ther are not enough numbers just an example. an ther are always liar's poker notes
