Thanks, Alan! I'm certainly having fun learning about it and putting it together.

The next thing I need to do is figure out my display system...whether an album or loose sleeves in a currency box. I think I'll order both from Wizard and just play around.

I agree with you on the 500 zebra. Great-looking note.

It's great to see someone trying to accumulate the entire Zimbabwe banknote issue. Most people buy the silly 100 trillion and that's all they buy, just for wow factor. Have you considered getting any of the pre Zim banknotes? Rhodesia or southern Rhodesia? They're a lot more expensive and hard to find, but interesting, all set out beside each other. I have a little ritual a couple times a year, I like to have a drink of my favourite whisky and I bring out some of my Rhodesia/Zim notes and look through them.

I haven't yet but I may just have to when I finish up the majority of the Zim set. At this point I have maybe half a dozen of the easy ones left, then I need to decide on varieties and replacements notes, which are much more expensive.

Latest Z note grab. This brings me down to missing 3 notes that are readily attainable (and two of those are already en route). The 2008 $10k note is proving to be hard to find. The others are going to be much harder and more expensive to add to the collection, so we'll take those a bit more slowly.

1994 $2
1995 $100
2007 $200k bearer's cheque
2007 $750k bearer's cheque
2008 $20k
2008 $50k
2008 $20T

Just got an email from banknotenews.com @CelticKnot this might be of interest to you.

Zimbabwe chapter give-away

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of visiting the offices of BanknoteWorld.com in Irvine, California. Owner Abdullah Beydoun has built a well-oiled machine on the simple premise of customer service done right. I was impressed with the entire operation and I'm confident you will be too.

It is my further pleasure to announce that Abdullah is sponsoring the give-away of the Zimbabwe chapter of The Banknote Book through the end of February. Simply use the coupon code BanknoteWorld during checkout. Then be sure to check out BanknoteWorld.com for the best selection of Zimbabwe notes and much, much, more.

Celticknot - Have you managed to get the 2008 $10,000 yet? This is the last note I need for a full type set.

This note appears only rarely on ebay. Currently there is only one on offer at a much higher price than its contemporaries. Do you know why?

@Anaximander - no, tragically, I have not yet acquired the 2008 $10k. This one is going to be tough/expensive, methinks.

My thought on why is this: The $10k note may have been the only hyperinflation note that was actually worth something / spendable for any length of time. There are SO many crisp examples of almost every other denomination but none of the $10k notes. You can find heavily-circulated examples of $10k notes by the bushel on ebay but rarely (as you mentioned) can you find an UNC.

Give this entire thread a read (particularly entries by Alan) to get an idea of why I think this.

And by "full type set", are you doing all Bearer & Traveler Cheques and the 1990's notes too?

And let me know if you come across a 2k8 $10k deal. I'll do the same for you!

Good luck!
