Quote:I'm still working on my 2015 goals -- 2.5 months to go! This basically. Though, to be fair, I haven't had as much opportunity as I thought I would, so perhaps (if the money situation allows) I'll just continue my 2015 goals for 2016. They're fairly open-ended anyway.

I just took a tally of my "from circulation" set and I'm missing 16 nickels out out of (I think) 176 total, so I guess that's about 91%. Getting there. I think I'll have to go out and get a box or two for when the holidays come around.

Truly not rushing the new year so take your time. I figured I would plant a seed to see what folks are thinking. Tonight walking through Walmart I spotted a mini lamp shade. Started thinking about possibly working on a low cost photo setup and working to catalog some of my favorites. Realistically I have more ideas than time to see them through. But I'm warming up to the idea of organization and a pictoral inventory. Lord knows my hobby desk could stand it!

Quote: Carl - I'm embarrassed to mention how far behind I am on that set. Good luck on getting that done. Just got an email from a dealer. He said he has one more I need for that all FSB set. Have to wait until the next coin show to get it.

So we are approaching the new year and I hope those that had 2015 projects are close to achieving the goal or like me, have ended the event.
My next initiative will be to organize the collection. It's long overdue and a recent swap of my desk for my son's (it was too big for his room) amplified the need. Many piles of coins accumulating in cups, bowls and bins. All set aside for a rainy day I suppose, but now's the time to put some organization into things.
On a smaller scale, I'd like to return to searching CENTS more this year as I was really concentrating on the 2015 project (building a Jefferson set) and consumed a lot of time. Maybe a box of each every 2-3 weeks.
So good luck on picking a project if that's your kind of thing and best of luck at achieving your aim.

A handy ready reference. I've read a few places here where folks created Access type databases and have pictures attached of their specimens. I think for you top coins for a given denomination/date/MM or the like might prove helpful when comparing new acquisitions. Not to mention the benefit of good pic's here to help ID a coin or obtain a grade.

Seems you have the three ingredients for a 2016 project; scope( ATB), resources ($500) and time/duration (1 year). I'm not sure how expensive these specimens run, but you could have a very nice set by this time next year. Good luck cameo!

IF,,, IF<<< IFFFFF... gold prices find a floor or break their downtrend, I plan on tearing into somalian gold elephants and playing catch up.
I also want to focus on some world coin bullion coins for the collection.
I also want to add a few world 5 oz silver coins and some world kilo silver coins.
I also want to hunt down some AFrican wildlife silver coins with privy marks.
However, all this hinges on whether we see an end to this downtrend in silver and gold. If not, I continue to wait.

Buy low...sell high. Hopefully things will turn for all those speculators and investors of precious metals...for a positive return!
