4 holes, you grade. Quite a bit of detail left, bought this for a dollar at my LCS... Amazing deal! The details are just stunning. XF details? AU details?

Somehow, the word "details" seems insufficient here ( ). But, it certainly is XF, what's left of it! Most unusual. Great pick-up.

An XF 1837 Small date, or a large date (doesn't matter in this grade) is a $300 coin in XF40. Wonder if I could squeeze $100 out of it?

Start at $125 so you have some negotiating room.

$125 Buy it Now w/ OBO? Sounds good to me. Going to wait for more opinions, of course. Probably won't list it for a while. Open to offers too.

Shouldn't give away your cost in original post, bad strategy. Offer $2 if free postage.

High VF-low XF details. A shame about the damage, but I bet that was a nice bracelet in its day.

I really don't think you'd get more than a few dollars for that. You'll need to have someone who want to make a vintage jewelry piece. You should just locate more Half Dimes and dimes with holes like this and make your own bracelet and sell that for several hundred.

Definitely NOT EF details. VF details. You'll NEVER see three digits for this coin; you'll be lucky to get two. ebay would probably get you $10 at most. Keep it for your type set. Typically, damaged coins like this sell for 5-10% of problem-free value, and maybe 20% if the coin is an exceptionally desirable coin, or 50% if the coin was expertly plugged. This one falls in the 5-10% category.

The holes being somewhat symmetrical and not on Liberty's portrait makes the eye appeal pretty nice considering.
Definitely a great buy at $1 but you won't be sniffing $100 for resale. You might as well not even look at book value for a coin with this kind of damage.
I'm thinking you might be able to squeeze $20 out of it.

Looks like CHD is well on his way to a unique bracelet.
How about a consecutive date run of 4-holers?

I'd suspect it would sell for at least $10 on ebay. Certainly a nice purchase at $1. I'd do it too in a heartbeat. Maybe you could start a holed coin collection, on another forum there was/is a regular poster that has a holey coin hat covered with coins of all different eras and denominations. Neat inexpensive side collection idea.

TypeCoin, in VF/XF it catalogs around $300-500 if I'm not mistaken...
5-10% off problem free = still three digits
