Amazing toning and luster. AU58+. Slight rub on tip of bust, hair, and cap. Well struck reverse with nice detail and luster. Superior eye appeal.

I like the toning on this. There is minimal wear but it is almost covered up by the toning. I think paralyse is spot on at 58. the reverse does have some nice luster it seems, but I don't think its enough to slide up to MS.

Also, what do you estimate the value to be? Thanks!

I agree with the AU58 grade. If so, and PCGS, I'd say a rather wide range of $600-$700 is a fair price for this. If you check Heritage (or ebay, or PCGS and/or NGC census) this date is pretty common in highest AU. But the eye appeal makes a huge difference in the value. Ugly black ones with splotchy cream stains as little as $450. Super beautiful full center luster and peripheral rainbow up to $1000.

High AU also. I'm not a fan of the obverse color but it is what it is

Depends on the buyer, but no worse than $400.
Someone putting together a set of toned Bust Halves would pay substantial premiums, someone wanting blast whites or steel greys would avoid it like the plague.
If you are not philosophically opposed to slabbing, this coin is worth a submission to PCGS or NGC Variety Plus to see how they rate the grade and eye appeal; I would predict NGC AU58*

And the result:
PCGS gave this coin AU details; Questionable Color.

I guess no one has any further opinions on the result? I personally do not think the coin will look as nice in hand as this seller tends to use trick photography (as in making a PCGS EF-40 look like an AU-58). I aked for different pictures, but I haven't gotten a reply. Just for the record, I can get this coin for $260 from a dealer VERY knowledgable in early US coinage.

I've been holding my tongue on this one. From the current photos I'm not a fan. That toning looks artificial.
