Requesting validation of VAM and also if anybody knows a good buy price on this coin in this grade (AU Details) I would love some information.

It looks like a VAM3A to me. I'm not sure what the value would be for a details coin, however.

Given it has AU details, I was thinking $250ish would be fair. About half the value of a problem-free example.

I'd put that girl in my pocket for a month or two if it were mine. Might be low au but problem fee low au. Just don't put keys or lighters or anything else that can ding the coin in the same pocket

Hey cartwheel, I think your estimate is a bit high. This in a clashed lds example and with the o/s series the $$$ lies in the eds early die state examples. I wouldn't come close to buying it for that price. I see that guy asking $699 for a 3a and even says its an lds but I think he's bonkers imho

VAM 3's aren't worth much but the data I have on VAM 3A, the cheapest that has sold via private transaction was an ANACS XF40 attributed for $275. Very tough variety, apparently.

Another dealer I spoke with sold a PCGS AU53 for $575 at a show earlier this year.

That linked auction seems like a good deal to me, off-hand, and I would probably buy it if I was not considering this one.

I see what you mean cartwheel. Here are two 3a's I found at V&M and broken cc. While full blown retail they do give a judge of the market

Been doing some more research cartwheel and I really think you should pass on this one. Have you seen any actual sold listings for a 3a with these premiums? I think it might be a bunch of hype for this reason...

"3A was designated 44 years after 3, and TPG's do not attribute it, only V3 and V3 EDS. There are plenty of 3A's to be found in V3 slabs."

If you're heck bent on a 3a I'd go do some cherrypicking on ebay or heritage. I bet you can find a 3a for the price of a 3 slab somewhat easily

I have been looking to cherrypick one for a couple years now with no luck, for what it is worth.
