So I am relatively new to coin collecting. A circumstance presented itself to buy this coin for cheap so I did before fully scrutinizing the details in the light. Upon observation it is an 1802 Draped Bust cent with a noticeable typo, spelling "LIBERTY" as "LIBRETY"
I would like to know if anyone may have some information on this coin, particularly whether this error impacts the value or if it's indicative of being counterfeit.
Thanks for takin a look!

-Josh

to CCF. I know there is a 1796 LIHERTY and the value for it isn't increased because of the error. Can you post better pics front and back?

Really need straight on pics of obverse and reverse. There is no known LIBRETY variety of which I'm aware.

Not a problem, I am unfortunately limited by the quality of my phone's camera but I hope it's good enough for yall to make it all out. It's quite a well worn coin to start off with and the lettering on the obverse is pretty faint. I had to take a bunch of pictures to show it under different light

You shouldn't touch the coins surfaces with your skin. You should hold it by the edges. It can cause damage.

to what the experts say. I think it may have been tooled.

I was thinking tooled also at first...may actually just be Pareidolia caused by the extreme porosity/corrosion.
