I haven't been following gold coin prices particularly closely, but it doesn't surprise me that they're out of control since gold itself seems to be on an upward roll. I think it's a fad to buy gold coins right now since the Common Hysteria states that it's fashionable to do so; thus the price continues to rise. However, the gold market is so volatile that I'm sure what goes up will come back down. Just like the stock market. If ND is reading this thread, I think gold coins are ideal examples (extreme examples?) for the advice that coins should not be sought as an investment; rather, they should be collected for their own sake.

Nice to know Coin World is now grading coins.

As this seller sells estate items, I'm sure that he does not have any idea about graded coins. I have sent an email to him explaining that Coin World does not grade coins, however they do make holders and someone (not a respected third party grading company) printed out a label and stuck it on there. We'll see what he does.

I also moved this topic to the ebay Auction Discussions section.
Rest in Peace

Aside from the TPG and grading blunder, this coin sold for about $20.00 over melt. What's the big deal? I hope I'm missing something! He has a decent refund policy and a great feedback record. One Neg . Mike

This guy is only selling the flyer like stated in the title
He is selling a piece of paper announcing the new 2006 football coin
( that is soccer to you ) and this piece of paper was bought by a german registered member for 246 euro
Obviously the german speaking member did not read the text otherwise he would not have bid 246 euro for a piece of paper

And this is a proof of the reverse
Somebody asked me about 100 year old gold coins and I said they could be had at the price of melt
This 1848 angel with actual writing on the tablet went 2% over melt
