The Mint was not exactly on top of its game in 1865, perhaps understandably.

Not only is this 1865 nickel 3 cent fully clashed obverse and reverse, it's struck in medal orientation, aka 180 degrees of die rotation. It is an excellent display of a fully clashed die error, and shows how the clash and other die issues can mimic very worn surfaces.

Coin is slabbed in a PCGS holder. Test your grading skills out here and see how you come out vs. the folks at PCGS.

I have a fully rotated one also, with both clashes also. Not as nice though. Looks very weakly struck rather than worn, but will say AU58
