Hello everyone. I just purchased my first Peace dollar and I'd like your opinions as to the grade. I know it's a common date but you have to start somewhere right?

Thanks in advance.

My first piece didn't look anything like this.

Oops. Looks like a 63 to me - very nice.

Congratulation on your initial Peace $ acquisition

It's a fun series to pursue and with 'only' 24 coins needed to collect a full date/mm set much more achievable for many collectors than a full set of beloved Morgan dollars.

My opinion on your coin ... not based on any level of expert knowledge ... but some experience with the set.

Strike quality is always in play when evaluating Peace $ grades ... and IMHO the weakness shown on your coin is a result of how it left the mint and not circulation wear.

That said ... the bag hit chatter evident in both the obverse and reverse fields and portraits conspire to hold this otherwise fine coin down from a high grade.

I say MS62 ... MS63 at best.

Great start! Easy MS 62. Reverse is a bit weak but what a beauty.
