I decided to make thread showing stuff found in a average set of Lincolns from a single year uncirculated from 100 rolls.

So I went to LCS today and he sold me 100 rolls of 1961-D uncirculated in plastic rolls for $100.

I will post the finds here.

What I will be looking for is the rpms, DDO, DDR, clashes, struchthru, lamination, etc.

The 1,000 coins is already in 50 coin tubes so I can go through one roll at a time.

First Roll

This way I know what I checked for and which rolls are searched.

I do a quick run through and pick out the stuff that can be seen by eye or without much examination.

I put these aside for further examination some will be varieties and some will be nothing..

The first coin with a Point of interest on the top of the denver mintmark. I will but this aside and come back to it latter, but I am pretty sure its a rpm.

Because these are in tubes instead of bank wrapped or OBW rolls, any major errors or varieties might already be picked out by last owner.
Hopefully for you, I'm wrong.

Wow, you got MS 1961-D cents for twice face value.
That first picture is just beautiful IMO.
I'd love to buy some at that price.

Are you also going to look for high grade ones too?

If they were all from the same bank bag, then you will be finding a lot of the same things. When I get something like this I sort them by markers on the coins. If you get to see the markers and see there is nothing there, then set it aside. I've found as few as 4 die pairs from a roll before and more than 20 die pairs in a roll before. I got a two bags and someone had picked them clean. So die markers can be your friend. If you find a variety, look for the markers to see if they are on the coins you are searching. (markers only apply to the rolls you are searching) So look for die cracks, rough fields or anything that stands out so you can id the pairs you find in the tubes. I bout 55 rolls of 1960-D cents one time that was so little in them, I just left them in the OBW rolls. Out of the first 10 rolls I found 1 RPM. So I decided not to waste anymore time on them. I'll sell them on eBay/coin shop someday.

This is an interesting project; thanks for the photos and the comments. I'm curious that someone had a hundred rolls of a very unremarkable date sitting there waiting for you.

Looks like a rooster comb. LOL I agree a die chip starting in that area. You might watch to see if the chip is less or worse with the coins you have from that run?
