I've worked at a used car lot and found like 12 wheat pennys throughout my time working there. This penny stuck out the most, I was wondering if anybody knew what the black stuff on there is? looks like someone painted it of course. But I've just always collected cool old coins and have never really done any research, could the weird black color on there possibly be an error?

looks like someone wanted to make it look like the 1943 steel cents. on reverse you can see the copper showing through.

Since you work at a used car lot then it's really hard to say , I've seen old nasty pennies laying on the dash or floor of a car in god knows what ..
Since this is your first post I think telling you that it's junk straight off the bat might be a bit much , but honestly it is the truth ...
