I have in my possession a British Queen Victoria Crown minted in 1844. The coin is about VF. I have another with cinquefoil stops on the edge engraving but the former coin has just a plain smooth edge, no engraving. I cannot find reference to an 1844 crown with plain edge (i.e no inscription), listed always is the coin with cinquefoil or star stops. Can anyone give me info on the coin, would be counterfeit perhaps? or are there 1844 crowns without the edge engraving?
