Happy Tuesday afternoon! I just finished packing these for my upcoming business trip to China and I thought I would share. Big trade show in Hong Kong and some vendors to meet with along the way for a few days. Gift giving is custom over there, and I'm sure I'll end up receiving the usual pile of fancy packaged stuff I never know what to do with. This time around I figured I'd amuse myself by giving something numismatic, so I've packed some silver coins ( ASE and Florida themed silver quarters) and $2 bills into the mint bags. My guess is those getting a $2000 bag will be disappointed when it's not really $2000 in cash inside. lol Should be fun! Edited by Collects82 10/27/2015 3:14 pm

Sounds like a fun plan. I hope you do not have any problems getting this stuff through customs.

The customs question has crossed my mind too. The actual value of everything is rather low if the US should care and I don't see HK, where I fly in and out of, restricting this. As a carryon across the boarder into mainland China, I don't anticipate being stopped, but one never knows what they are gonna due if they bother to care anyways, even if I had nothing on me anyways. Usually they do nothing but stand there looking for Apple product.

The main thing I see is the writing on the bags triggering some imagination.

Last time I was at the LCS chinese tourists were coming in asking for 2 dollar bills and kennedy halfs. I see you have the two dollar bills, but I think you might need some kennedy halfs.

Those are some really nice gifts!
Just a heads up if you don't already know this: it is also custom in China to present and receive gifts using both hands on the item. Also, don't be insult if they first refuse the gift once or twice. This is also a custom and they will eventually accept the gift.
Have a great trip!

Thanks for the tips. This is actually my third trip for my company after having lived there for 2 years previously. Will never feel like home over there and I'm always SO happy to get home to my spoiled life.

Yeah, I understand. Have a great time and let us know how the gift giving goes. I'd be all smiles if I got something like a miscut two dollar bill.

I like that $2 bill error in the bottom-right corner.

Made it into China well. The silver coins actually got the attention of guy watching the x-ray. It's not a surprise the x-ray showed them, but it is that anyone was paying attention. lol. They found the mint bags most curious of anything upon inspection, but when they saw the low value of the actual contents they just sent me on my way.
