You know.....I think I have a few of those and I've never paid attention to them or tried to aquire any more...... But I do like the 50 years from now comment ! They'll be a historical/forgotten coin by then for sure and I'll be 89 years old ! (i hope) I think I have an uncirculated set or two also with Ike's. Hmmmmmm Might just grab me a handfull at the next coin/estate auction that has them, for no other reason than just to have a "batch" of em.

I am an Ike fan! And I immensely enjoy such discussions, which fill me on so much that I do not know. This is most useful!

Thanx!

I have seen some certified 40% silver clads that do have a pinkish edge though. I know that complete silver clads have white edges. How about these 40% clads, do all of them have white edges?

I happen to have a 1976S Ike that I received as a tip a few years ago when I used to deliver pizzas. I'm pretty certain it's one of the silver clad proofs. It has that mirror-like finish to it. Sadly it has been pretty circulated and looks like it's been abrasively, cleaned. But I still like this coin and I plan to ask for others at any bank I go into.

At my banks I've asked a couple of the tellers to call me if they get any in. Some tellers must already view them as collectable because a couple have told me "oh we keep all those we get" . It would be nice to put a set together but it seems it might already be getting a bit harder to do so. I'll have to check my pawn shops to see what they're going for there.

Maybe we could keep this thread going to discuss any interest others have in this awesome old coin? I know it would make me happy .
