Any idea what this is? Hard to photograph because it's in an original proof set holder. Above the letters In God We Trust there are raised lines. They are raised from the surface, it's tough to see in the pics. I'm thinking about breaking the holder for better pics as these proof sets aren't very valuable.
Yep, even on proof coins, the sharp edges of the lettering on the die cuts through the plating. Your looking at breaks in the plating where the zinc shows through.
Thanks. How come the surfaces are raised, most notibly above the S and T in trust? I understand the die cutting into it, but it can also raise the surface?
