Hello, this is my first time posting anything so please be patient and sorry if the pictures are not clear. I was going through some pocket change and found the following coins

1985 dime Die Clash

This dime is close to the one listed on maddieclashes.com website CCL(T1)-10C-1985-01, here are pictures of the front and back of the coin

I found this coin in a bucket of pennies that I was saving and it looks like the FG is doubled (one on top of each other) and in the second picture there is a small L in the box, any comments will be helpful.

The dime is a super nice clash! Great coin.

The cent is not a DDR. The things you are seeing are just some kind of optical illusion from the pattern on the coin. Other devices might show if it is a DDR.

Very Nice Clash!

I agree with SSK that most likely the pattern on the cent is just a similar pattern but check if the secondary FG raised or just flat?

The "FG" is not punched into the die by a separate process. It can be forgotten or even a second one as it is part of the design. In order for there to be a second one it would have to happened during the die hubbing process. In order for it to be missing the die die would have to had been filled with grease that prevented the strike or over polished to remove it.

But the "FG was there from the start. So it you had two "FG"s on you coin, then the other devices would also have to been affected. That is not so on your coin.

If it were hub doubled, then the "FG" would be very close with a second device.

Hi, Thank You for the responces, as per OcalaFlorida's post I decided to take a picture of the LMC to see if the FG's are both raised or if one is flat. As I studied the image I can see that the second FG is raised and some other details come out ( not worried about that for now) as the coin is not the cleanest.

Coop, I have read this board for a long time and you know your coins and errors. I have read your post and understand your comment about the other devices not being affected. In the pictures about under the Lincoln Memorial it appears to have a image slanting downward that resembles that side of the Memorial (I also boxed it in to illustrate in a new photo, and in the angled shot if you look at the A it appears to have another A to the right of it.

Thank You
Anthony

The FG would be relative in position to the "extra memorial" You are seeing. Considering that the "extra FG and extra memorial base" Are not corresponding in position, I believe you are seeing an illusion, or trying to see something not there.
