It does make sense that it's a crack as it adjoins two letters. Not that it couldn't be a gouge but, A) it would be harder to create a gouge perfectly from one letter to another and B) cracks usually appear in these types of places.

Hard to tell from the photo but is there also one from bottom of the I in AMERICA going downwards?

Not true at all. In fact, it would be hard for a die crack to be created perfectly from one letter to another. A die crack should flow over the devices, so no, this is not a die crack.

I beg to differ. I don't think it's as simple as saying that 'a die crack should flow over the devices', as there is a multitude of different die cracks which all have their own characteristics and are defined in different ways. To be honest I don't even think die crack cuts it anymore with having a prefix like 'bi-level' or 'Arcing rim-to-rim' haha. Die cracks within the devices is very common, although having said that you normally do get them running between more than 2 letters.

I'm not saying that what you've said is wrong, but I still think it is more difficult to create a gouge in the place the OP has shown, and just from looking it doesn't look like a gouge.
