Just made what is by far my biggest numismatic purchase to date: a 1921 Peace dollar.

1921-Peace-Dollar---How-Did-I-Do?

Just going by the seller's pictures (though I really would have preferred better pictures and from some different angles), it seemed pretty nice for its grade and with a decent strike. The only thing that worries me is what appears to be a break in the luster at the base of Liberty's neck, but it's not really that distracting anyway.

Anyway, this is new territory for me, and I was hoping some of the more experienced Peace dollar guys could offer their guidance. Thanks!

21 Peace dollars are notorious for their inconsistent strikes and varying luster due to the high relief strike of that year. That's why 1921 was the only year in high relief because of those issues. Looks like the reverse is what made this coin a 64 because it has an amazing strike, the obverse has a bit of a weak strike. I have a 21 similar to yours actually being sent to PCGS and hoping it comes back as good as the coin you just bought.

If you look back at HA prices for big silver and gold coins in 1992 you may throw yourself off a bridge. The coin is beautiful none the less for coin inflation.

I like how that blue toning only effects the tailfeathers. Like a red tail hawk, you got yourself a blue tailed eagle
