I am looking for an idea of worth on these two coins, which have never been out of the package. Essentially, do they have numismatic value beyond the gold content? Thank you.

I was hoping someone more knowledgeable would chime in with an answer for you.

In my opinion, there is some numismatic value.

Do you have the four coin set in case? That appears to be the most valuable.

Thanks, MV. I was thinking maybe it was a stupid question. ;)

I only have these two, which are the same (although one looks smaller in the photo). Only one has the red box. Perhaps it was a sales deal back in the day.

I am also having a hard time finding how much gold is in them. One sales site lists them as having 5.46 g.

NGC World lists the AGW (actual gold weight) as 0.1610 oz. http://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/...9-duid-70276

There a few for sale on ebay. Prices go from US$175 to over $400. You'll need to compare condition and packaging then check SOLD prices to find out what they are really worth.

Nice looking coins.

There is a small contingent of collectors that look for these. I recommend keeping the original packaging. If you find the right collector they may pay a notable amount above melt if the condition of the coins is exceptional. However, given the relatively limited number of collectors I would imagine most dealers would buy it based on the gold content.

Krause lists these as containing 0.1610 troy oz gold.

Hope this helps
