Hello all. I've recently been thoroughly detecting in my front yard. So, yesterday, I was detecting about a foot or so away from my driveway, in hope of digging up some spare change. I had also been hoping to find some older coins, since my house was built in 1958. About 20 minutes in, I had gotten a nice signal, and proceeded to dig up a 1966 quarter, about 4.5 inches down. It had some green coloring on it, so it seemed like it had been there for quite some time. Then, the next signal I got, I dug up, and it was a 1956 wheat back penny, about 4 inches down! I was quite pleased with that find, and by the end of the day I dug up a couple more pennies from the 60's. So then today, I went back to the same general area, and I dug up 5 pennies, each about 3-4 inches down: -1976 -1975 -1966 -1959 -and a 1953 wheat! I thought I would just share, as I'm very interested in these recent finds. They all seem somewhat deep down, and they all look like they've been there for quite some time. My hope, is to pull more wheats hopefully, and maybe even a silver dime! Any thoughts or comments welcome! -Chris

Did another search for about an hour this evening and found 5 coins:
-1974 dime -1978 penny -1969 D penny -1965 penny (nice condition) -1973 penny
I did shift my searching area more inward toward the yard, as opposed to being closer to the driveway as in the last several hunts. But, in the past three days, I have pulled about 20 coins, with 3 of them being wheats. I will continue to hunt this area of my yard, and keep updated. Still looking for my first silver! :)

I did quite a bit of searching today, and managed to pull 2 coins: -1975 penny -1970 D nickel A little disappointing, but I will gladly take those two finds. I have a feeling that the area has yielded its best already, but I will continue the hunt!

Todays finds:
-1968 penny -1962 penny -1960 penny
.....and a STERLING SILVER charm! It's a little charm that says "Saint Christopher Protect Us"! I found silver, but just not in coin form! A couple grams of silver, but a great hunt!

Great! It's better than nothing, even if it isn't a coin.

Just as I thought that the coins were becoming more and more scarce in my property, I moved to the back yard, and proceed to dig up a Wheat cent about 5 inches down! It is very toasty, and close to unidentifiable, but I believe it is from the 30's, possibly a 32 or 33. Still hunting!
