Yeah, I know it's Machine Doubling, but that's the only thing I ever find. Gotta post something, ya know?

Thanks, Vaslin. To be honest, I think a Machine Doubling looks just as cool as a double die, but I am aware that MDs are pretty common and nobody really cares about them..lol

I'm interested in them...and I'm actually thinking about ebaying several rolls of "die errors (may be varieties)" and seeing who bites at what...e.g., filled mint marks, MDs, LIBs, laminations, RPMs, etc. I have too many coins, if that's possible.

I'll be the first to say as nicely as I can that that would be a diservice to the hobby. Just put the stuff back into circulation. Selling junk that "may be varieties" just irks me.
Sorry to be honest. But junk is junk and trying to disquise it as "may be varieties" is a scam.

In my opinion.. Filled MM = Junk, common as dirt. Machine Doubling = Junk, unless it is really severe then may be worth a small premium. LIB's = Drawing a blank here on what this means, which happens to me a lot. guess it comes with age. Laminations = Same as MD. RPM's = normally worth a premium anywhere from a dollar to $$$ depending on the RPM. The MD's & Lam's unless very severe you would probably be lucky to get enough to even cover your ebay fees. Unless some noob that didn't know better saw the auctions and thought they were something more then they really are.. This is all just my opinion.

I'm with the junk is junk crowd, obviously. We've been through this a number of times, and selling Machine Doubling is a scam if you've been told by those who know that it's worthless. Well, it's worthless. You might get bids, and you might make a profit - from someone else who doesn't have a clue.

I totally understand what everyone is saying. I have sold a few MDs, but I was upfront and honest and said that these are not errors or variants. People, for whatever reason, still bought them. I guess it's their perogative. I personally would never buy any. OK, to be kind of honest, another reason I sometimes post these MDs is that I'm hoping I am wrong and someone might correct me in saying that I've got an actual double die!

Theres nothing wrong with posting them, new doubled dies do turn up. It also gives us the opportunity to teach about Machine Doubling. Thanks, Bill
