I was going through my box of 2x2s with silver quarters and I noticed the details of this one. It is the highest grade slq I have ever seen. What do you think it grades? It looks Full Head. Thanks.

Looks at least EF for detail, and I agree it has a full head. However, either the photos are messed up somehow (way too much contrast?) or the coin has some kind of surface problem. It looks granular and stained, possibly from "environmental damage" a.k.a. corrosion. Could this possibly be a ground find? Detail across the center of the obverse looks especially weak, almost like metal was etched away using acids.

Jaobler . Thanks for your response. Not a ground find, I bought it. The photos are from an IPhone 4s. The coins doesn't have any problems, in person it definitely looks mint state. Full strike.

Interesting. Try further pics and sharpen them up a bit.

Too hard to grade from these photos, could be MS or AU and possibly a details coin.

This is just my opinion but this coin appears to have been improperly stored possibly in a high moisture environment for an extended period. Looks high AU but I think it would grade as environmentally damaged. The eye appeal is less than I like for a coin of this grade

XF details, severe environmental damage (even some green from PVC?), poor eye appeal. Not FH. Nowhere close to MS.

Looks like a ground recovery (i.e. metal detected) coin, or it was stored in someone's bathroom for years. Possible PVC.

Yeah ,this coin has little wear. could have been a totally black piece that was forced to take too many baths in silver DIP . AU-55/58 Details.

I'm at AU-50 details, environmental damage. It appears to have a Full Head strike. IMO, probably an MS coin prior to the damage.
