I personally like Coin Values because of the articles (more specifically the coin grading articles that are nicely detailed). It is good for coin values too but there is another one that gives both coin prices and the mintages which I like to know sometimes. Definitely Coin Values is my choice though.

I have read Coins, CoinValues, CoinAge, Coin World and most anything else I can get my hands on. My favorite is Coin World, it gives me a weekly fix of coin news and stuff. As for values, Coin Values works, but like some others, I get a copy of the greysheet (Coin Dealers newsletter) occasionally to stay close to current. The truth is, I get better information right here on this site.

I get CoinAge and recommend it as a "People" for coin folks. It's serious but does not have a lot of "up-to-date" articles and bits of information. For example, they recently did a 5 page spread on how the Lincoln Cent came to be. I like it and it keeps me interested in the hobby but something like CoinDealer seems to have a lot more the info you may be looking for.

I receive the weekly Numismatic News and it also contains a monthly value guide.

Also check your local coin dealer or coin shows. You can get ones that a a couple of months old for a $1 or less. Great way to decide for yourself. Personally, I'm not making the big buck purchases to have the very latest price guide. In any case, I can look on e-bay for free to see what things are selling for.
