Hi ladies and gents,

Have a few coins, would like to try to know more about value of them and some info. Can you check it out please? Coins are not big, not from gold (checked in goldshop, if they are good specialists, probably is not the gold, but they looks like very old, ancient). The first one I think is Arethusa, 400BC.
If you could guide me with information and possibly with the price and place, where to sell them,, it would be brilliant

Thanks in advance

The only picture that came out was the first one. Sorry to say but this is a very badly made cast copy of a Greek coin type.

When posting images use the Upload image feature provided here and only post one or two coins per thread.

After you have been collecting ancient coins for a while you get to spot some of the money obvious fakes. The coin is supposed to be in silver, the details are soft and not well defined, even with wear you would still be able to tell a struck coin from a cast one. The piece is completely round. These coins were struck by and and they are never evenly rounded. The surface of the piece has signs of casting bubbles. If you look at the edge of the coin you will more than likely see a line around the edge.

The second coin is supposed to be a tetradrachm of the emperor Hadrian, but I'm sorry to say this is a fake also. The good news is that the third coin is real I can't quite make out the legend but from the bust I believe that it's Domitian. But someone with better eyes might be able to make out the legend. The green deposits on the obverse is bronze disease, this is not good left untreated it will destroy the coin. You can look up on the web how to treat the problem.
