Cue the sarcasm... this post is ultimately just showing an example of a low end Chinese fake should someone have not come across one before, even though we discuss them rather frequently. K... back to the fun stuff!!
Just wanting to share the thrill of finding my dream 1882
Morgan dollar. My collection is focused coins of '82, so the Morgans are keys for sure. I've been in Hong Kong and China for business for a couple weeks. Saturday morning I was at the jade market in Hong Kong looking for something for my wife, ended up making a couple custom jade and pearl items I think she'll love. Some of the dealers also have a few small antiques at their stalls. Upon entering the B area, at the second stall I passed, a kind elderly man had a stack of silver dollars from various countries subtly displayed. As I browsed through them, there she was. In all her glory. (This is where the angels' chorus gets dramatic") An 1882 Morgan! But not just any one... this is ultra rare alternate Silver Trade Unit reverse version. These are very elusive finds, often requiring traveling to the far corners of the earth to uncover. I played it cool so as to not tip off my excitement. The seller wanted HK$20, but I stood firm at $HK10 and scored it. My collection may now be complete! Here are pictures for you jealousies!
