I found this on ebay: Canada 1967 Centennial Coin Set with $20 Gold Coin Unopened. 291613018541I love this stuff, I could buy it, keep it for another 40 years and not open the box. Is the gold coin in there or not? Kind of like the cat. It's pretty cool. Schrödinger's cat on ebay!Liverpool

No way I would not open that box. I would have to know what was inside.

Sorry, I don't know much about this subject - what is the mystery here, if I may ask?

From Wiki: "Schrödinger's cat: a cat, a flask of poison, and a radioactive source are placed in a sealed box. If an internal monitor detects radioactivity (i.e., a single atom decaying), the flask is shattered, releasing the poison that kills the cat. The Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics implies that after a while, the cat is simultaneously alive and dead. Yet, when one looks in the box, one sees the cat either alive or dead, not both alive and dead. This poses the question of when exactly quantum superposition ends and reality collapses into one possibility or the other"
Until the box is opened there is no way I can know the gold coin is there, or if the cat is alive or dead.

Okay, okay, I know you guys are just using me as a punching bag. I'm an old guy, and that's fine.
But what the heck is so special about this sealed 1967 set?
Just clue me in, and I'll leave you insiders alone.

I understand Schrodinger's cat but I still don't understand the mystery either. Unlike the cat if you open the box and the gold coin is not in there You are covered by the ebay Money Back Guarantee if you received an item that is not as described in the listing.

In 1967 there was two types of sets produced, one with a 20.00 gold piece and the other without, but even if this unopened 40 year old box contains the gold set it's still overpriced.

Thank you indeed, sir. Most appreciated. Why would anyone not just submit such an item to a test by a modern metal detector?
