Cascade!

Okay then...

I think that, from what I'm trying to understand, is that there could either be a $20 gold piece in there or not, and now one knows. Kind of like an unopened 1979 S proof set, or an unopened GSA Morgan dollar

I have one of these! It doesn't have the gold, though.

...if you collect unopened packages this is the buy for you. If you collect coins it may not be.
So, which do you collect?

I truly believe the seller has the gold set in the box but as mentioned earlier there is ebay to protect the buyer if there's a rock in the box. ebay is funny sometimes a bidding war starts and a 100.00 goes for 500.00 or curiosity kills the cat. Sorry before hand just couldn't resist.

Ended, no takers.

I don't mind being the dunce in the corner, but tell me, could this package be X-rayed?

Sure it could... but the way I see it ... there's no extra value to the coins being in the plain box packaging

I bought and sold one of these sets, a couple years ago. I can't remember
if the case has metal in it. And with the six other coins in the box, a
metal detector would not seperate the coins. It would not tell you if
one of the coins was gold.

XRay might work ... But as other said, why buy a unopened box for
hundreds more ... When you can find them where you know for sure
the gold coin is there ... And be able to see how the cons look.

If I remember right, the coins in this set are not in any type of holder,
Air-title. They all are just sitting in the velvet lined case. The ones I have
seen, the silver coins were very dark, ugly dark. Also there is a good chance
the coin were bouncing and rubbing against each other.

I know this auction has ended .... But my suggestion is, this is not the set to
buy without seeing the coins. Unless less your buying them as melt.

In my set (as I said, no gold), the coins are in cellophane like in old US proof sets.
