Hello everyone, This is NGC graded. I don't mean to ruin the guessing fun (it's a 64) but I was wondering if you agree with the grade and I also need your comments regarding the toning. I was really excited to get this one. The toning is awesome even if the strike is a bit weak (stars/corn). However, upon closer inspection, I saw a suspect toning pattern. The devices are outlined rather than toned completely. This leads me to believe it was cleaned and re-toned (artificially?). I apologize for the pics but I can't do any better through the plastic. See the third pic down (I think it's the best illustration of the toning pattern I am referring to). Notice how the stars are outlined. Also notice the profile. This pattern continues around the date, lower hair curl and crown. It does not completely encircle Liberty, though. I don't see it on the reverse. Thoughts? Grades? Comments? Thanks

This a beautiful coin. If you didn't give the grade I would have given it MS65. I think its all original. Coins tone differently and not all surface areas tone at the same rate

Luster beneath the toning is consistent. I don't think you have a thing to worry about with this beauty.

Sold MS-65... Thought about CAC or PQ? Awesome eye appeal!

Beautiful! Toning looks completely OK to me.

No problems from my point of view. MS64-MS65 is completely appropriate. The strike is weak on both sides, that probably holds it out of pure 65.
I think CAC would green bean this coin in 64.
Nickels tone differently from silver coins.

This kind of toning is so seldom seen on nickels.

It's actually easier to find on Jeffersons in very high grades; I have several MS65-MS66 that have the same toning pattern.
