I Found A Copper 1943 Cent!! - Coin Community Forum

LibertyEagle20 Pillar of the Community United States 1189 Posts	Posted 11/18/2015 5:42 pm Found this the other day when going through some of my wheats. Too bad it's a fake! If the copper plating hadn't started to rub off it would have looked pretty legit. Looking at the sides of the coin in a roll, it looks just like a real copper cent. Aside from the copper rubbing off on the observe, it sticks to a magnet.. that seals the deal that it's not real. Guess I'll throw this one in the oddities box! Report this Post to the Staff

Fool Your Friends!" and such for 99 cents each or whatever. These things are a plague to coin dealers and have been ever since they were created. (The phone rings, "I found a 1943 copper cent," I start cringing.) See the link to the 1943-S bronze cent currently at Heritage for more on the story. Cool find ... but I might say I am cold to them.
