The pic is in the redflagdeals forum for collector coins, under personal finance. Nothing to see in my opinion. They're going in right direction on mintage, however need better themes. This type of birthstone coin was done in 2011 or 2012. It was not popular

Quote: Where is the picture? The Coins4fun has them in stock in his ebay store. There you can see the picture. I just confused - why they put the Dragon on the coin - nor January, neither 2016 is Dragon related. Or they think, that red stone associates with the fire, which associates with the dragon?

they did not mention that they would have different animal for the stones.. this is in the mint website for the subscription Subscribe today* and then relax knowing you will receive all 12 coins (each coin just $49.95). Each superb coin in this 12-coin series is embedded with a genuine, gem-toned SwarovskiŽ crystal embellishment that replicates the colours of the month's birthstone: o Garnet, the birthstone for January which is said to bring constancy and loyalty o Amethyst, the birthstone for February which is said to bring sincerity and peace o Aquamarine, the birthstone for March which is said to bring courage and health o Diamond, the birthstone for April which is said to bring innocence and love o Emerald, the birthstone for May which is said to bring happiness and fertility o Pearl, the birthstone for June which is said to bring balance and joy o Ruby, the birthstone for July which is said to bring nobility and beauty o Peridot, the birthstone for August which is said to bring felicity and protection o Sapphire, the birthstone for September which is said to bring wisdom and calm o Opal, the birthstone for October which is said to bring faithfulness and confidence o Topaz, the birthstone for November which is said to bring friendship and strength o Tanzanite, the birthstone for December which is said to bring wisdom and health The engraved elements in each coin are beautifully rendered in fine detail to create a collectible piece of art that holds a timeless appeal. A traditional symbol of power and strength, the intricately engraved dragon in each coin is positioned over a lotus pattern to symbolize purity of the heart and mind, while the crystal adds the unique virtues it represents. Crafted from 99.99% pure silver.

They missed a chance to take it up a notch with using real birthstone. I'm sure low grade small stones not too expensive.

It should be noted this is the 3rd MC exclusive. Unfortunately it is a dud like the first one, the Master of the Sky Goose house. It is similar to previous releases of birthstones. Nothing special about it and that is why they are still available to MC members hours after release.
One out of 3 MC exclusives was a hit; the gold plated voyageur coin. Here the mint missed the mark. They can't seem to get it right, underestimated the demand for the voyageur coin and overestimated the demand for this one.

This does not appear to be the third MC exclusive offering. The first of 12 coins has a weight of 7.96 grams. The Mint's web site states info on the three MC offerings as "coins include a one-ounce scallop-shaped coin, a two-ounce coin with gold-plating and a one-ounce coin that incorporates an innovative technology" At 7.96 grams, it is not a one-ounce coin. Also, nothing on the web page or in my email to indicate MC exclusive, but only a pre-order.

What they got wrong is the process. If they followed the process of only allow Premium MC member to order and keep all mintage to MC members, then not many would complain. I think most MC members that complains are those didn't have a chance to buy it due to lower rank MC jump the queue and some mintage were reserve for dealers. If the coin were 5000 mintage to please all MC members, it would be a dud like the Scallop goose coin

Lostwords, why did you call this coin as January release? Except the name it has nothing to do with January. It will available to public next week. Also, you didn't mention here the final coin in the Canadian Home Front series: Patrol Against U-boats, nor the Looney Tunes' "That's All Folks!". So I would call it December mini release. So rename this topic to something else to make this name available for the real January release.

The 2012 birthstone series was 1 oz silver, initial selling price $64.95, mintage 10,000.
Seems soon to reuse the same theme.

Per the mint website, the 2012 (and 2011) coins were 1/4oz and with no mintage limits. They were however as you noted, $64.95. No surprise they were a flop. http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/april...-prod1270005

My apologies, yes the coins were indeed 1/4 oz. But I notice that they've pretty much held their original purchase value in the secondary market, perhaps due to low sales.....and possibly reason why RCM saw opportunity for a revised new version.
